Peter John Hammersley

Pete  (pictured centre) started his career over 30 years ago with his first Arabian runner as owner/trainer at Nottingham (August 1983, El Rih Sarsar). He had his First Arabian winner as owner/trainer/jockey at Taunton in June 1984 (El Rih Sarsar).

Pete was involved in Arabian Racing under AHS as owner/trainer/jockey until 1989.

and with Point to point as jockey/trainer through the 1990s.

With the addition of the ‘open race series’ on the ARO race cards allowing lower rated

thoroughbreds the opportunity to race against Anglo Arabs. Pete saw this as an opportunity for a homebred thoroughbred which had been unsuccessful under rules. So in 2007 after some time away he returned to Arabian Racing. After 4 successful seasons with Son Of Sophie (11 wins) and Annie Moyles (10 wins) he had the opportunity to train several purebred Arabians and so returned full circle to

where it all began in the early 1980s.
